Managing DirectorMr. Mafique is the Managing Director of ASA Uganda since 2014. He obtained his post-graduate degree in Management from National University of Bangladesh in the 1997. He joined ASA Bangladesh in1994 and since then has been closely associated with the implementation of ASA’s microfinance program and impact assessment team. He was the Managing Director of ASA Afghanistan (previously part of ASA International) between 2009 - 2010. He provided consultancy services to the Centre for Community Transformation in the Philippines and the Cambodia Health Committee, such as, to strengthen the Microfinance Service Delivery System, Human Resources Management System, Monitoring/Supervision and implementation, financial control system, accounting & record keeping system from 2005 to 2006. Mr. Mafique worked with various organizations as a Deputy Managing Director, such as Pag-ASA Philippines (part of ASA International) in 2008 - 2009, ASA Pakistan in 2011 - 2012 and ASA Savings and Loans in 2013-2014. He is member of the Board of Directors of ASA Uganda, ASA Kenya, ASA Tanzania and ASA Rwanda, He is also a member of AMFIU, an association for Microfinance institutions in Uganda..

Deputy Managing DirectorMr. Rahman graduated from Rajshahi University in Bangladesh in 1992. He has 26 years’ experience in the microfinance sector. He joined ASA Bangladesh in 1994 and worked as a branch manager, Regional Manager, District Manager and Zonal Manager. He worked at ASA India and at ASA Philippines. He has been the Deputy Managing Director from 2015.

Chief Financial OfficerMr. Omagor is a Certified Public Accountant with over 13 years of professional experience in various industries, such as Automotive, Construction and Educational institutions. He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration (first class) from Makerere University (Uganda), a Master of Business Administration from Wuhan University of Technology (P.R China) and CPA. He is a full member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Uganda. He is experienced at finance & accounting, risk management, management of foreign exchange transactions, accounting system development, establishing and maintaining internal controls to achieve the objectives of effective and efficient operations, reliable financial reporting, and compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

Head of Legal & Compliance/Company SecretaryMr. Baguma is experienced at corporate finance law and in-house legal counsel services. He is a holder of an honours Bachelor’s Degree in Law from Makerere University, has a post graduate diploma in legal practice from the Law Development Centre, Kampala and a post graduate diploma in tax and revenue administration from the East African school of Taxation. Mr. Baguma is a member of the following professional bodies; The East African Law Society, The Uganda Law Society, The Institute of Corporate Governance of Uganda and attended various professional trainings in continuous legal profession development and in Corporate Governance.

Head of ITMr. Omugur is the Head of IT since 2014. He has a Bachelors in Applied Information Technology and an advanced diploma in Software engineering from Sikkim Manipal University in India. He has 13 years of experience in the IT profession. Prior to joining ASA Uganda, he worked as a senior systems administrator with World Vision Uganda. He is experienced at Enterprise systems and environments, Data and network security, Virtualization, DC-DRS with BCP amongst others.
Kenneth Byamukama

Head of Human ResourcesMr. Byamukama is the Head of HR since 2020. He obtained his Post-graduate degree in Human Resource Management from Makerere University Business School, Uganda. He also has a Bachelor of Arts and a diploma in Education from Uganda Christian University, Mukono, Uganda. Mr. Kenneth has over 10 years of HR experience. Before ASA Uganda he was associated with Heritage Coffee Company Limited as Head Human Resources, and served as a Human Resources Officer at Sugar Corporation of Uganda Limited and in Kakira Sugar Limited.

Founder and President of ASA Bangladesh. He served many reputed committees and boards: Chairman of Asia Pacific Development Co-operation, Steering Committee Member of Global Best Practitioners Microfinance Network, Board Member of International Network of Alternative Financial Institutions (INAFI), Member CGAP/World Bank; Member International Technical Service Providers (ITSP) UNDP MicroStart Program Philippines & Nigeria. Board Member position held at several MFIs. Former Advisor Caretaker Government Bangladesh to the Ministries of Agriculture, Youth, Sports, Culture during 2006-07.
A.K.M. Aminur Rashid
A.K.M. Aminur Rashid
Mr. Rashid is currently the Executive Director of ASA International. Since joining in 2011, he has held the positions of Chief Coordinating Officer and Director. Prior to this, Aminur was a Director of ASA Bangladesh from 1992, closely associated with the company’s micro-finance program. Before joining ASA, Aminur worked at Grameen Bank, a fully regulated specialized bank for microfinance. With over 28 years of experience in microfinance, he has held multiple senior industry positions, and worked in extremely varied developmental contexts including Tajikistan, India, Mexico, and Nigeria.
Md. Azim Hossain
Md. Azim Hossain
Mr Hossain has served as the Director of Investment, Treasury and Risk Management at the Group since 2005. Mr Hossain has over 34 years of experience in the microfinance industry and worked at ASA Bangladesh from 1984 to 2005 where he has held several positions including Director of Finance & MIS and Senior Finance Professional. While at ASA Bangladesh, Mr Hossain was in charge of its NGO Partnership Programme, whereby local NGO microfinance institutions received technical and financial support from ASA Bangladesh. Mr Hossain also established ASA Bangladesh’s finance and MIS systems and was involved in the design, development and implementation of products such as small and medium-sized enterprise loans, savings and insurance. Mr Hossain was actively involved in the development and design of AMMS at ASA Bangladesh. He has also assisted in the establishment of risk management frameworks and provided training on financial management and information systems at ASA Bangladesh. He has provided technical support in the microfinance industry to various microfinance institutions in countries including Ethiopia, India, Nigeria, the Philippines, Yemen, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, Cambodia and Indonesia. He has also worked with the UNDP MicroStart program in the Philippines and Nigeria where he was responsible for development, product and services, financial management, performance analysis and business planning. Mr Hossain received his Master of Commerce in Accounting from the University of Dhaka in 1984 and served as a DANIDA fellow on “Project Management” at the Aarhus Technical College in Denmark.

Muhammad Shah Newaj
Muhammad Shah Newaj
Mr. Newaj is the Managing Director of ASA Tanzania. He obtained his Post-Graduate degree in International Human Resource Management from Manchester Metropolitan University, UK. He also achieved a Diploma in Sales & Marketing Management from the London Centre of Marketing, UK and Masters in Social Work from Shahjalal University of Science & Technology, Bangladesh. Before joining ASA International he worked as an Operations Officer at City Bank Limited for about two years. He joined ASA Bangladesh in 2011 and served as a Jr. Deputy Director.
Md. Jamilur Rahman Chowdhury

Mr. Jamilur has been the Managing Director of ASA Rwanda since 2016. He has over 21 years of experience in microfinance and social development, having held supervisory and managerial roles both in Bangladesh and overseas. Previously, he held positions as a Branch Manager, Regional Manager, District Manager, Divisional Manager and Assistant Director for ASA Bangladesh. He also was assigned to manage positions abroad, such as Executive Director at ASA Ghana, Consultant at Bina Swadaya (NGO) in Indonesia, and as Consultant in the Philippines for UNDP Micro-start Support Program and General Manager at SAMIC PLC. in Cambodia. Mr. Jamilur graduated with a Master of Arts in General History from Chittagong University of Bangladesh. He also has a Bachelor degree in General History from the same university.
